ProofDemand

SurgeonCheck's mission is to contribute to patient safety by means of identifying potentially dangerous surgeons. SurgeonCheck aims to be the preeminent source of information about plastic surgeons' track records by use of innovative mechanisms to ensure both data availability, patient privacy, and data veracity.

ProofDemand is one mechanism we use to ensure that reviews can be added easily, but that spurious or baseless reviews are removed.

Surgeons who were the subject of negative reviews and red flags can avail of to protect their reputation. Once we receive a request for ProofDemand, SurgeonCheck will require the reviewer to provide evidence of the authenticity of the review. The review will be temporarily deindexed and replaced by a notice stating that the reviewer has 30 days to submit supporting documentation such as scans of receipts, photographs, videos, assessments by third-party physicians, etc. Unless the reviewer complies to our satisfaction, the review will be removed permanently.

ProofDemand is a free service for all SurgeonCheck sponsors.

Are the documents presented by the reviewer in assocation with ProofDemand made public?

If the documents satisfactorily prove that the review is based on fact, then yes. However, all identifying data such as names on receipts and faces will be blacked out. Photos of face lifts and nose jobs will be withheld.

Are red flags removed if I avail of ProofDemand?

If no other red flags exist, and a red flag has been put up solely by the review under investigation, then the red flag will be temporarily removed during the investigative period of 30 days. If no sufficient proof is submitted, the flag is permanently removed.

Why is ProofDemand not free for non-sponsors?

The verification of documentation cannot be automated, and as such takes time and money to implement. We would love to make ProofDemand free but would require a stipend or substantial donation before we can make it happen. Please contact us if you would like to hold a fund-raiser on our behalf.

Isn't unfair of an innocent surgeon to have to pay to uncover false allegations?

If someone files a lawsuite aganst you, you would have to pay a lawyer to defend you in court even if you are innocent. It's not necessarily fair but it's how the legal system works. Similarly, while EvidenceFirst is not free, it does allow you to protect your reputation beyond a shadow of doubt, which is not the case on other review sites.

Can I avail of ProofDemand again if proof was supplied?

If you avail of ProofDemand for a particular review, and satisfactory proof is subsequently submitted by the reviewer, the review is put back up and no further ProofDemand requests can be made of the same review. However, you may avail of ProofDemand for other reviews.
